We are currently seeking a Tax Manager to be located in our Corporate Office location in Des Moines, IA.


The tax manager will perform a variety of monthly and annual duties, both routine and non-routine, in support of various Finance functions. Oversees the filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual business, property, sale, and use tax compliance returns. Prepare annual federal tax returns as well as state tax returns in multiple jurisdictions including any necessary estimated tax payments and extensions. Refine and improve data collection processes supporting those returns. Correspond with various taxing jurisdictions with regards to notices and changes in filing, as well as coordinate audits by various taxation authorities. Recognize, anticipate, and resolve tax issues and advise management regarding tax impact of corporate strategies. Participate in strategic tax planning initiatives to identify other opportunities. Implement and maintain tax planning initiatives. Assist with US GAAP tax provision and tax rollforwards. Assists with backfilling of other positions while team members are out of the office.


Duties

  • Utilize and develop understanding of various tax programs to prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual business, property, sales, income, and use tax compliance returns.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of tax related General Ledger accounts.
  • Tax planning and initiative maintenance.
  • Quarterly tax provision analysis and review.
  • Backfilling and assistance with ad hoc projects.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Accounting (or relevant experience). Minimum 3-5 years of tax experience preferred. Strong Federal and State income tax compliance and tax accounting experience. Working knowledge of tax code and regulations. Good tax research skills, effective analytical and problem solving skills, organized, detail orientated, good numeric and alpha skills, as well as general filing and recordkeeping abilities. Must be able to multi-task and have ability to work with different types of people. Must have excellent written and oral skills. Must be proficient in Excel. Must be able to work independently and maintain confidentiality. No travel required.

Final candidates will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment physical and drug screen.
